Here's one we were discussing the other day. Runners on 1st and 3rd, 2 outs. Grounder to second, the runner from 1st stops or backs up and the second baseman chooses to make the tag play. Runner from third crosses the plate before the tag is made. Does the run score or is it considered a force play?

Similar situation, runners on 1st and 3rd, 1 out. Grounder to 1st, 1st baseman steps on 1st for the out, throws to 2nd for the tag out. Runner from 3rd crosses the plate before the tag is made. Does the run score?

In the first scenario the situation is still a force play and therefore the run does not count.

In the second situation the run counts since the force is taken off by the 1st baseman stepping on 1st for the out.
