Has anyone seen the movie Prospect yet? I saw the ads in baseball america and am wondering if its worth getting

The movie is not only worth getting, it's almost a must.

Probably the best documentary ever done for young players and parents who want to get to the next level.

By the way, there's a lot of footage shot at the PG/BA World Championship last October. That's not the reason for getting it though.

I'd be very interested in what others who have seen the movie "Prospect" think.

PROSPECT MOVIE

I'm a former college player helping out with my old highschool team. I played against the guy that made this movie in college so I ordered one. The day after I watched it, I showed it to the team. Bottom line, this movie is going to change some player's lives. It's that good.

I don't know what it costs. We were sent a copy because we helped Rick. We were blown away by just how good it is.

I don't ever remember coming on here to endorse anything including our own stuff. But I feel that positive about the value of this movie to young players and parents. Please understand we have absolutely no financial interest in this.

Several people have been asking the same question "what is it about?" I've been making adjustments to the website and this weekend I'm recutting the trailer in attempt to give everyone a better idea.

We are adding the following description to the home page:

VOLUME 1 gives insight into the infrastructure and processes college coaches and pro scouts use to evaluate pitchers and position players. It covers the five tools, the structure of scouting, and the amateur draft.

VOLUME TWO documents the structure of the minor leagues and the process of how players are prepared for the big leagues. It deals with the mental prcoesses players use to get the edge in the face of fierce copetition for the greatest job on Earth

"Prospect" was made to be a 'functional' documentary - meaning that the purpose is to make players and coaches better.

If you're an old salty dog scout who has been around for years or a tenured college coach, you may know most of the material discussed. But in Prospect, thirty people are communicating the material in their own unique way which is the reason I think Prospect is special.

I made the film I needed to see in highschool to know what coaches and scouts were expecting me to do and film that would have made me a more successful player in college. And If anyone at any level claims its not worth the price, or even twice the price, I'd say they're crazy. Every college coach that's gotten one so far has played it on the bus for their team.

A baseball buddy of mine from college sent me a copy of this video and it's not an exaggeration to say that watching this and taking the advice to heart could change your baseball life. But I have to admit that watching "Prospect" made me a little upset. Hearing the players, coaches, and scouts talk about all the different aspects of the game - both mental and physical - made me realize that my baseball career didn't have to end after graduating. I was a scholarship player at a Divison I program and feel confident that I had draftable talent. But my potential in certain aspects of the game was not reached and it's a shame that this video wasn't around 5 or even 10 years ago. There are a number of gems in these volumes, and to hear them from the likes of Franconia and Wright brings the message home even more.

A number of people have asked what the video is about and what they can expect. Well expect a pleasant surprise. This movie is not like all the other shameless, late night cable-advertised "how to" videos that charge you money for what you could learn from Tim McCarver or Joe Buck on Sunday night baseball. This video is not going to teach you how to hit or throw a curveball, how to run first-and-third defenses, or how to execute a hit-and-run. What it is going to teach you is how to put yourself in the best possible position you can be in when the draft arrives. And let me tell you, it's never too early to prepare. If you've ever wondered what the scouts or college coaches are looking for or where your game needs to be to even sniff a 161 game season, then these volumes are for you; and what's more, the answers come straight from the players, coaches, and scouts themselves.

There's nothing wrong with not making it to the Bigs, but if you don't want to share my regrets, I'd suggest you listen closely to what they have to say.

I had previously caught wind of this movie from a scout in my area. He said that the movie would give me a breakdown of the draft and a wealth of knowledge from successful players. I will post after watching the movie because it is on the way!

I received the movie in the mail today. Watched it tonite.
OUTSTANDING!
I am the parent of a HS player. Not a "how to" or a movie with a bunch of "new stuff". There is just so much credibility when you hear/see these guys talking about "what it takes" that makes this movie different and enlightening. I will make sure my son watches it.

Sounds fascinating. One quick question I have. Is there any content that would make a dad squirm (ie rough languange) while watching it with his 12 year old son? If not my order will be forthcoming soon.

There isn't anything in Prospect that would offend. No questionable language.

Wow, I recieved my copy and just finished watching. It's almost like I don't want to say anything to ruin it for other people. I'm gonna have to listen to it again so I can quote those guys out at the ballfield. Now I understand what was meant by "the game behind the game". A must get for good baseball people.
