Ok, D-1 guys go to the Cape, etc. Where do juco and D-2 guys go to play in the summer? I don't think I have ever heard it discussed.

In the Northwest, a lot of college kids play for the Pacific International League--D1, D2, D3, NAIA,and Juco. This league is open to any college players.

In Mississippi there is the Cotton States League. Mostly JUCO kids but there have been boys from D-3, and D-2, playing also. There have also been some from Lousiana and Arkansas.

JUCO's have to be selective on where kids are sent because they cannot send them to a summer team coached by a NCAA coach. And alot of the better collegiate league teams are actually coached by NCAA coaches. The NCAA rules do not allow this. So it makes it a bit more difficult to find JUCO guys a place to go, but it can and is done. There are leagues all over the country. Two in Texas now (one in Houston and the new one in Dallas).

The one in Houston for colleges players- I beleive is called the Karl Young league and is played at Baseballusa.com - they are in process of building a new stadium for the field they are playing

Lori,

I am a JUCO coach and am not sure where in the rule book it says that, I have only been told that by coaches in each league. Maybe some folks more familiar with NCAA reg's would know more...sorry I am not of more help to you.

I thought I read somewhere that JUCOs can play on any team in any league, so long as that team does not have an NCAA Division I coach (head or any assistant) on staff.

The replies address the JUCO part of your question but not the D-2 part. It seems that a lot of D-2 players go to the same places as the D-1's; presumably not as many naturally, but on my son's (a D-2 pitcher) summer team in the Valley League, there are more D-2's than D-1's, and I know of other D-2's going to Coastal Plains League. Look at any of the summer leagues' web sites as most have links to the teams and their rosters, and you can get an idea of the distribution.
