My son is signed up to play in the SCBL. Here's their link: http://www.scbl.org/viewpage.asp?key=9107

They may still have some openings.

Your boys will love the CPL. Great venues and outstanding competition. Coach Merc one of former players will be playing at Forest City as well , Pratt Maynard from NC State. I plan on getting up there for a weekend series this summer. Good luck to your boys.

My son is looking at a change of summer plans, from the CGL here in the DC area to the SCBL in NC/SC...can anyone give me a heads up on what to expect in terms of level of play, etc?

I'm familiar with the CGL..comparisons, anyone?

Not as familiar with the CGL...SCBL is what I would call comparable to a mid to high level D2 conference in terms of overall talent. Certainly, some teams are loading up on D1 talent so the level of play is certainly on the rise. Some teams still like using the small school players, but you will see especially with the Copperheads and the Tenn team mostly D1 guys.

thanks much JT...I saw your point as I looked at rosters..copperheads 20 D-1 guys, but Tenn team this year has 17 NAIA/JC guys, mainly local area kids, it seems. No conclusion to draw from that, just observing.

Any info on the Morganton team specifically?

Morganton is a good mix. Town supports the team pretty well. Last year they hooked the players up with jobs with the local parks and rec dept. I think they had to pay a modest rent for the summer. If you PM pfbear he can give you details as his son was in the league last year and played for Morganton.
