My son was forwarde this from his college coach.. I think it's a scam...any thoughts? Paul
How are you? As you probably know, I scouted the past 11 years in the northeast region -- Colorado Rockies (1997-2004), MLB Scouting Bureau (2005-2007). This current season I have continued scouting, but have done so independently. I am now teaming with longtime baseball man Bob Wirz in an effort to help place undrafted seniors with ballclubs.
Throughout this spring, I have identified seniors who I feel can play professional baseball but may be bypassed in the MLB Draft. Bob, who worked in the Commissioner's Office in the 70's and 80's as the chief spokesman and has helped put independent baseball teams together off and on for the past decade (five playoff teams in six years), has a lot of contacts. We will be reaching out to teams in an attempt to get a handful of players signed. I watched your team play this spring and have identified (your son's name here) I am attaching a player agreement for (your son's name here). I am asking that you either pass the agreement along to (your son's name here) or send me his contact information (email, address, phone) so I can contact him personally. The non-exclusive agreement outlines what we are attempting to do for the players. We are not agents, and we are only taking on a limited number of players in the northeast, as we only want to get involved with players that I have personally evaluated this past season. We are asking for compensation only if we are successful in placing a player. Should you wish to contact Bob for any reason, he can be reached @ .....
Sincerely,
David Scrivines

Don't just contact Bob, ask him for player references from the past. You may also be able to write the MLB scouting bureau (e-mail on their site) to find out if this guy exists in anyone elses mind but his own. Someone here may have had similar experiences or may even know these people. Good luck and tread lightly.
Sometimes I sits and I thinks, sometimes I just sits. Coachric
