That is not really an option the way the draft is set up currently so long as your son is in school. If he is in college, he has to wait until the end of his 3rd year or age 21 to be drafted and cannot be signed by anyone out of college unless drafted. If he is in high school or just completed high school, he must be drafted to get signed. I could be wrong but if he is not drafted out of high school, does not attend college or JC but is still less than 21, he has to wait for the draft but I could be mistaken on that side. MLB has this calculated that only a very few get themselves in a postion to be a free agent outside the draft before they have compeleted college or age 21.

He will have to go through this years draft. If he is not drafted, he could sign with a pro team if they want him this summer. If he goes back to college in the fall, he will then have to wait until the draft again. Also, paying for the rest of your school is not standard, and is not offered to all players.
