My son is a freshmen this year and I am pumped up like every season for opening day. Who wouldn't be pumped up if you lived in Chicago where it's -1 today. So our first game is in 33 days, 11 hours, 5 minutes, and 20 seconds against Baylor.
Who is your first game against?

St. John's is playing Gardner Webb at Winthrop, SC in their tournament. They will also get to play Kent State and UNC the next week at Winthrop's Coca Cola Tourney. Can't wait!

Thanks TR! We can't get to all of the games as well, being all way out on the West Coast. But we're looking at some travel options. The Winthrop Tourney's in South Carolina look good, but so do the series against Norte Dame and Louisville. We have to chose between some of them because of costs and work.
One good thing is coming out of this, though. The team plays Cal State Northridge for a weekend, 4 game series the weekend of March 7th. And thats only 46.3 miles from our home. We'll finally get to see our son playing D1 Baseball close to home. His 91 year old grandpa is very proud, as we are too.
Thanks for the support and for all your great insight about this great sport.

Husband was a pitcher at St. Johns and was in a tough spot when they played son's CCU team in the Regionals last Spring. We are pulling for SJU, but not to be in our Regional this year. CCU opens against Maryland, 4:00pm at home! Of course I will be there!!!!

Flying to Austin (at Concordia) to see them open February 15th(3 game series). I need a great breakfast on the 16th in Austin before going to the Saturday game, any recomendations?
CD,as you know, we(UNF) opened our season last year against CC,Virginia, and Elon on Feb 9th in Conway and you are 100% correct about the weather. All 3 of our games were at 3:00 and by 5-5:30 we(in the stands) were frozen.
After sitting(and freezing) through 2 straight losses to Coastal Carolina, and Virginia we were also down to Elon on Sunday and could not wait for the game to end that frigid Sunday afternoon. So what happens? The coach decides its a good time for our son to make his college pitching debut-GREAT! He's ALSO been sitting and freezing for 3 days. Well, he proceeds to go in and throw strikes and get us out of the inning and ended up getting 5 k's in 3 innings and did a pretty decent job-made Mom and Dad very proud. Yea, we still lost.
As a side note, Coastal won all 3 games and CC's shortstop looked great.
We stayed less than 3 miles away at a Comfort Inn(very nice) with a real good Mexican restaurant next door.
This year we start off Feb 22nd at the Baseball Grounds(AA Field) in Jacksonville with Mississippi State. I hope it's a little warmer.
