My sons school broadcasts a number of games over the internet. For you tech savy people Can that be saved to your harddrive or recorded on a dvd???

I use a digital voice recrder with editing software.
I started with a mic but wanted better quality. Once edited you can burn it on a DVD.

Novice dad,
Some schools save their past broadcasts in archives, you might want to check that out as well, this way you can enjoy the current broadcast and worry about picking it up later.

Many schools now bringing in webcasts!

Internet broadcasts can be recorded and saved to the drive. My wife is in charge. I'll ask which program she uses.
EDIT: Try http://www.applian.com/freecorder/ it works well, has a timer, good audio quality and the price is right.

Thanks Guys...

I actually want to know about saving video. Son's school simulcasts radio feed with video. I would like to be able to save the broadcast video.

The school does save prior games on their site and I can look back at prior games, but would like to have a copy as a "home movie".

Edit...just saw Dad04's link and looks like their is a option for webcast video software. Could be fun!

Thanks!

the other night, we taped onto a entertainment system cassette player. h used an earphone for the mic since we didn't have a mic on hand. it worked Smile

When recording off the internet direct to the hard drive, you can transfer the file to a CD via a CD burning DVD writer on the computer, all without microphones or wires....unless you want to add your own commentary.

Applian products work well. I used them last summer to try to record some games. The audio "Freecorder" works great, I still need to play with the streaming video a bit more... but hope to have that perfected soon. They have a products for streaming video, REAL TIME video, and others I'll go and see if I can post a link to an example or two tomorrow...

Ok I was able to get a few clips on the internet.. to let you see/hear them...

First two are Audio Clips I saved using FREECORDER from audio broadcasts over the net and then edited them to just the size I wanted using Windows Media File editor.

ACC_HR
Cape_HR

Then below are a couple Streaming video Clips. I used on of the Applian streaming video recording products See their website WMRECORDER

And also was able to edit it slightly using Windows Media File editor.

Chatham Interview

Then I learned the HARD WAY that there is a Start up delay from when you first push the Start recording button....

I didn't really mean to try to promote my son in any way... but hey those are the clips I had... any AB clips with Ground outs and or walks... or Ks were erased.....

You do not know how GLAD I am that the internet is around and allows me to follow my son...
I'd be going NUTS without it..

Because as most of you know when you ask a teenager for any detail... the answer you get is .... "ahhhhh.... OK..."

How'd you do? "ahhhhh....OK..."
Well How did you hit... "ahhhhh.. OK."
How'd the rest of the team do ... "ahhhhh.. OK."
How are classes going? "ahhhhh.. OK."
How's your girlfriend? "ahhhhh.. OK."

Do you want me to send money... "OH yes right away..."

I was not implying you were promoting your son. He's doing just fine, which is cool to comment on. You should be proud, as I'm sure you are.

I was commenting on the audio quality, which I find very good. I guess the quality of the recording is as good as the broadcasts, which I too find very good.

I'm also glad to have the games avialable to listen to. We have every game audio filed, a few on DVD's, which I think I'm going to dust off for some pre-season prep.
