I know that there has been alot of posts about the team, but for the people who have played with them in the past or know alot about the team, is there any instruction? Or do they basically give you the ball and let you go? Ive heard that while Dean is a great guy, they don't teach you alot or really help you to get better. Just trying to see what others opinions are on this.

Thanks

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm not sure it's a fair question to ask. The Orioleanders and other teams like them do not exist to instruct, they exist to put talent on display. The players they recruit are considered very high level already, and they generally come to the roster well drilled, highly skilled, and motivated enough to continue with their drills and practices at home before heading to game weekends.

If it's instruction you're looking for, this kind of travel team may not be what you want.

My son played two years for the oriolelanders. It is not an instrutual team. All the players are very good. You show up on the weekends and play three games. Pitchers go three innings a weekend. Position players play in most games. Every game has alot of scouts there both college and pro. I think every one on the team recieved a baseball scholership and several were drafted. My son loved it. If you have chance to be on this team I would do it. Dean is a good guy and has fun with the kids.

While I didnt play for the oriolelaners, i did play for the Mid Atlantic Red Sox, same type of team.

I would show up for the game that I was scheduled to pitch, throw my 2-3 innings then leave most of the time. It was one of the best things I have done to get seen by colleges.

There is very little instruction, I got a few minor pitching tips but it is all to be seen by colleges and pro scouts.

It was a lot of fun playing that level of compitiion and I would recommend playing for them if you can.

The key advantage to these teams, other than playing top notch players and being seen is making a connection to someone that can give you a reference (of course you need to perform). However, that cannot be overstated.

Dean Albany has deep connections and if he doesn't know a particular coach he probably knows someone who knows that coach well. He took my son, at that time virtually unknown, and got him to an ACC school.

You cannot go wrong with Dean Albany!
