Has anyone here played for or coached the 'Canes? Do you know if and where they practice, or if they just play games with their team? They say they have kids from Maryland on their teams, but it seems a bit extreme to drive 5 hours for practice.

I have not had any experience with the Hurricanes South. The Hurricanes North squad has built itself up into a pretty strong showcase team. They also offer a 16u squad now.
Typical of showcase teams, they do not practice. They play a summer and fall schedule. The last two years they have been able to get into Jupiter. The team has had 2 AFLAC All Americans play for them (one of them regularly, the other only a bit), and has developed a pretty good track record for getting the bulk of their players into D-1's.
The North squad is supposedly based in Fredericksburg, but the players are from all over. It doesn't really matter where the coaches live, because you tend to just meet at the tournament sites on tourney weekends.

As you can see from their website, 95% of these players are major Div I talents. Contact information in various places on site. Also, it contains a Prospect Form if you are interested.
