We are going to move into this area this summer. We are looking for both summer baseball prgrams for our 14 year old and good High School programs. We play Major/Travel ball in Southern California and our son is starting catcher.

For starters, check out the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (NVTBL) and look for contacts in the general area where you think you might move. Lots of good competition at various levels. I think it's a dot org. Good luck!

Agree. NVTBL is a good place to start for NVa baseball. They are mostly high school teams, (some jv teams) with some additions, keeping together over the summer.
There is also Babe Ruth league active in NVa. for age 14.

If your son plays at a high level and travel does not bother you then I would think you would want the best travel team AAU etc. for that age group. If he is 14U AAU is generally the better travel competition. NVTBL is more organized along HS lines as previously mentioned.
Try this link to Va. 14u teams through ETEAMS. You should be able to get a flavor for what's available. knowing what area your looking to live in would be needed to provide more specific help. I'm assuming you know the communities/cities in NVA.
There are many strong public high school programs in the area: Oakton, Westfield, Robinson, Madison, Edison, Herndon, Stone Bridge and Osborn. I'm sure I missed a few. As far as private schools, Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg is coached by a former catcher for Clemson University and the Cleveland Indians organization. While public schools are limited to a 20 game regular season, NDA schedules 45-50 games and play 12-15 against the top teams in North and South Carolina starting in February.

Once your son is 17-18, he will want to play summer baseball for the VBC Barnstormers, run by Chris Warren. IMO, the best summer program in the Mid-Atlantic area.

"lax attitudes" seem to be creeping into VA Legion and NVTBL over several of the last years."
For CGL of past year, there seems to be fewer DI players and more DII and DIII .
Industrial Leagues from 50's, 60's & 70's (ie HF, Black Sox, Atlantic Masonary, Martz Insurance, do not exist, and have probably turned to the MSBL or MABL or DC Baseball.

The whole Concorde district is very powerful, one of the best districts in the country, you would be a safe bet going to any of those schools. Madison is ranked #9 in the country by baseball america, so if you think your son could play at that level thats a great thing. Also if you want him to go to a private school, look a PVI (Paul VI) last year they were #23 in the nation before losing three in a row... Hope that helps.
