The Mid-Atlantic Mustangs are looking for top flight Juniors and Sophomores from the Northern VA/DC/Baltimore area. The Mustangs are a showcase team that is aimed at helping talented young men, reach their dreams of playing college ball or beyond. The team is coached by former college/pro players. We are based out of Northern Virginia near Dulles Airport. All players interested should go to this link: http://www.dullesmustangs.com/tryouts.html and fill out the form. Also, feel free to contact Coach Ross at steve@dullesmustangs.com with any questions.

The roster on your website shows a 16-player crew. This seems to be a full roster. Are you expecting to expand the roster?

I saw the Mustangs compete in several games last year, and they beat some very good teams and lost, but played about even with, some others. And this roster looks to have drawn in top, YOUNG talent from across the Mid-Atlantic region. I think this bunch may compete with the likes of the Mets/Red Sox, the NVTBL Stars, and even the Canes. It depends on how good their pitching is, but last year, they had a very good right-hander (big kid who threw hard and had a great curveball) who was untouchable when he was on. Don't know if he is still playing for them.

isaac - Thanks for the posting. We are very excited for our roster this year and believe we can compete with the teams that you mentioned.

Fisbait - We are looking to possibly add 1-2 more players. We are looking for a lefty pitcher and an outfielder. If we can get one person that plays both positions, even better.

MaM,

Are you guys going to play ODL as well? I notice a number of your kids are from out of the area, thus my question...

Thanx!

TurnTwo - We are strictly doing showcase this summer. We went this route to offer our guys maximum exposure in front of colleges. Since we've decided to also recruit from all over the Mid-Atlantic area, playing an ODL schedule or for that matter any local schedule would be a logistical nightmare.

I agree on the logistics which is why I asked...

Hopefully we'll see you at a showcase and worst case, I'm hoping we'll see you at the WWBA...

Not my son, but several of the former VA Rays and several "new" kids will be on the Twins...they should have a pretty solid team...

He's on the Barnstormers this year. He has some interest in Mason and attended their showcase in December. They saw him there and offered him a roster spot...he had a couple of other possibilities including the Twins, but decided on the Barnstormers. It should be interesting...

Barnstormers are a very good team. They'll offer him exposure, especially in this area. If you could, could you PM me with the coaches name and email. I'd like to talk to him about possibly setting up a scrimmage/some games against you guys in front of a school like Mason.

If your still looking for a lefty pitcher / center fielder you might want to look into the Parrish kid that drew all the attention at the Crab Claw showcase. He didn't play in the game part, he was only 14 at the time I believe. I'm sure Lou would have his info. He's a stud.

The sophomore class at West Potomac may be the best that school has had in years. Also, a southpaw freshman pitcher who will be one of the area's top pitchers in a year or two if he stays healthy and works on the art and science of pitching. You may want to make contact with folks in that area--maybe you can get some of those guys onto your team?

rhobbs - Thanks. I shot the coach of at West Po an email.

They do have some talented pitchers and should have a good couple of years ahead of them.
