The Mid-Atlantic Mustangs are looking for players to fill out their fall roster. This team is for 2010-2012 players that are looking to play college baseball. We are going to compete in 5 showcase tournaments. Those that are interested, please contact Steven Ross at steve@midatlanticmustangs.com

Let me offer an objective point of view on this team. My son's team both beat and lost to this team in a showcase tournament this summer. If Coach Ross gets the same quality players this fall and spring, this team will become quite good and the program will become somewhat like the Mets organization, allowing NoVa, D.C., and MD players another great travel ball option. This team did not necessarily have the best talent in our showcase, but they fought harder and played their hearts out. In the game we won against the Mustangs, the Mustangs fought back 3 times to take the lead. Their pitching just did not hold up. In the game we lost to them, they just flat out beat us. The summer roster was full of very good players who did not get as much attention as players on other teams but who were every bit as good on any given day. Coach Ross and his assistants are down-in-the-dirt winners who truly believe that their guys can beat your guys. If you are wavering about your fall options, and the Mets are not available, and you did not make the Canes roster, give the Mustangs a chance. Help build this program (we'd like to see them back in summer showcases next year to pay them back for this summer).

I emailed Coach Ross few days ago but haven't got any response either via phone or email. Is there a number I could call? Thanks.

tacbinh,

I think we may know each other. My son joined the Mustangs this past summer as a LHP/1B, and had a great experience.

I know Coach Ross has been occupied with some family business. You can feel free to contact me if you would like. Others can contact me as well if your would like.

Why hello there Tom! Smile

Glad to hear you and David are having fun. I hope it's nothing serious with Coach Ross... Jeff had an enjoyable summer season as well, playing with the Post 295 Jr Legion team and also went to Florida to attend a USA Baseball sponsored tourney. He's thinking of doing cross country in the Fall and switching the baseball format a bit to play in tournament teams rather than usual league style. Do you know if the Mustangs can use another Catcher/MIF?

Does anyone have a roster for this team? What is the schedule and how many players will they carry? What needs to do they have? Is this an ODL-level team that will play against the Canes, Dirtbags, Braves, and so forth? What college signees do they have? Ages? 2010s and 2011s?

The Mid-Atlantic Mustangs were founded in the fall of 2008, and just completed our innaugural year. You can learn more about the club by visiting: www.midatlanticmustangs.com

In 2009, the Mustangs were young both as an organization, and as players, with a fairly even mix of 2010 and 2011 players. The Mustangs are young, but they are s-c-r-a-p-p-y (got edited to ***, go figure), and sought out the greatest challenges. Locally, the Mustangs competed well in the NVTBL ODL Division. In tournament play the Mustangs challenged the top Dirtbags teams, the Richmond Braves 2009 team, the Canes and the Upsate Mavericks (SC) top team; earning a win over the Braves and two nail-biter losses to the Mavericks (who defeated the top Dirtbags club).

For many of the Mustangs, this was their first experience with elite travel "showcase" baseball. They had not been out on the showcase circuit previously, but what they lacked in experience and name recognition they made up for in grit and intensity.

Coming into the season, the Mustangs did not sport a roster of a lot of "top prospects" ... by the end of the season, many of our Mustangs were being tracked by quality D1, D2 and D3 programs up and down the East Coast.

The Mustangs do not have the time in grade of the top programs like the Canes, the Braves, and the Dirtbags. Those organizations have been around for years, and have earned every bit of the reputations they enjoy. That said, there is a new kid on the block, that offers High School players from the Mid-Atlantic another opportunity to compete at a high level, showcase their talents, and have some good fun in the process.

If you are a player (or parent) looking for an opportunity to play baseball at the highest levels, against the best competition, and in front of the best baseball school in the area ... take a closer look at the Mid Atlantic Mustangs.

I have been told by a parent whose son played for this team over the summer that they are not playing in the fall--only in the spring. Anyone have details? Their website lists them playing in six great tournaments.
