Billy,

Actually, I think he only pitched 3 innings (not sure).
What an exciting night, Dan's family, PA people, ODU players and coaches!!! Fans that had the K's out in rightfield!!!!
Grasscutter and wife,
Congrats to all of your family, for all of the time you have spent and the decisions that you have made along they way to give Dan the best opportunities to play with the best coaches on the field.

Good luck to Dan!! Chicago here we come!!!

Lynn

Lynn,

You are right....I was just thinking about the 4th inning...he didn't come back out in the bottom of the 4th.

It was a great story.....and Fox 43 did a good job tonight airing it.

Billy

WOW, what a story!!! He pitched at every level in the minor leagues this year and now gets a call to move up to the majors while pitching in his home town area.

I saw him pitch in his second hi-A outing earlier this year while in Winston-Salem and thought he looked awesome then.

I did say he would move up more this year. But all the way to the bigs ... that is just wonderful!

We'll be pulling for him. Somebody post here if he's slated to start so that we don't miss it. Hopefully it'll be on WGN.

Congratulations Dan and family. We're proud of you, it couldn't happen for a nicer "baseball" family.

Best of luck in the show.

I remember seeing Hudson pitch probably the most amazing high school game I've ever seen in the 2005 state championship game down at W&M. Osbourn was a young team and took a big early lead 8-0. Hudson and PA kept battling and chipping away, sending it to extra innings. They fell behind again in extras but came back again and eventually won in 12 innings 11-10. I don't remember how many innings Hudson threw, but I remember thinking he had to throw 150+ pitches and he just seemed to get stronger. I don't want to start some argument about pitch counts....I just wanted to say that was an amazing performance, and I'm not surprised to see where he's at now. Best of luck to him in MLB.

And...Hudson just finished his first inning in the Bigs...he looked great, striking out the 3rd out on a called third strike.......against Boston.

Congratulations to the entire Hudson family! Great job!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I didn't think Tuesday night could be topped but last night came awfully close. Well, all those long toss sessions, all the bull pens, all the running, all the work has finally paid off. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that this would not be possible without the coaches he has had since that very first day on the tee ball field.

Now, where's the next one coming from?

I was in the dugout but didn't take over until he was 9. The person I credit with his earliest development is a guy named Chuck Hall. And by development I obviously mean fundamentals but more importantly the fun aspect and respect for playing the game the right way. Chuck had (and still does) an uncanny ability to break down fundamentals into drills and situations kids that age have no problems understanding and most of all enjoying. I copied and used Chuck's techniques after that and with Dylan's teams. Lynnhaven has been lucky to have Chuck and I wish I had 20 more like him.
