I understand that it is harder to judge the private school players, but the omission of Collegiate's Phillip Clarke was a mistake.

He played SS correct? Interestingly enough, a private school player was selected as the 1st team SS. Not sure of his numbers this past year, but I know Clark is a very good player.... but there were a LOT of good players left off and a case can be made for them all

Phil's going to the best baseball school out of any 2008 graduate from the area. One honor of All-Tidewater shouldn't matter. I think it's fair to say his scholarship to ECU says it all.

The record of the team you play for and it's reputation with the newspaper has a lot to do with the level of recognition a player receives. Saddly the players level of talent is often hard for a newspaperman with limited knowledge to judge.

I was also surprised by Phillip Clarke's name being left off the list (a glaring omission). I was also surprised by the number of players on the list who have not received offers to play at the next level. I'm not sure the list actually means all that much. The all conference selections are based on voting by the coaching staffs. They are much closer to the pulse of what is hapening on the field than the sports writers.
