How did Maury do at St. Anne's, or am I too late on this story line?Did they make for a competitive game?

Looking ahead to the State Tournament, would either of these two contend with PVI for the championship? How about St. Christopher's (who beat PVI last year)? How about Benedictine? What are the other top private schools this year?

No. No one can compete with pvi this year, they are in a league of their own.

STAB beat Maury in the second game of a double header (first game they defeated Benedictine)....

On the topic of Paul VI, it all depends on who will be pitching for either team. If both team's have their stud pitchers, it could be a classic game.

From what I have gathered, Benedictine can hang with almost anyone on any given day.

Nomadad,
Maury did compete quite well at STAB. The final score was 6-3. Maury pitched a slender lefty who held his own.I heard he was thier #3.
I think there were a few factors working against them; like: being undefeated, just playing on that beautiful field(it must be by far the best HS field in VA.imo),Stab coming back in the 7th and winning it in the 8th against Benedictine while they were waiting to play, and last but not least a 40mph wind blowing out to LCenter that was responsible for miscues and a HR that led to most of STABs runs. A well played game by both teams.

Yeah the wind was happening for both teams though, either way a well played game. And a brief congratulations to Maury's catcher who recently committed to The University of Maryland to play ball. He was a good looking athlete with a good head on his shoulders, he took his hacks! STAB does have a gorgeous field, those boys spend a large amount of their summer maintaining it in the off season from what I've heard. Very respectable.

Benedictine was a very, VERY talented team with a lot of potential power in their lineup with a collection of great arms. Best of luck to all of those teams

So, will Collegiate be a factor in the VISBA tournament?
