HELP - we are trying to identify uncommitted seniors that may be flying under the recruiting radar.

If you have prospects that you would like to nominate, please send us:
Name, High School, Position(s), Stats, Colleges currently showing interest, High School Coaches' contact info (if you have it).

We would like to run some features on prospects that might deserve more attention or a second look by the college coaches....

Reach us at VAPREPS@aol.com

Thanks for your help!

PVI has three seniors committed (Verdin, Murakami, and Bowers). They have six seniors uncommitted. These six are all college prospects:

Greg Wiegand RHP/3B--outstanding pitcher and 3B with superb bat. One of PVI's top three pitchers and relied upon in pressure situations. Throws mid to high 80s and hits spots and changes speeds well. May pitch vs. DeMatha tonight if you want to see him. Alot of college interest but uncommitted.

Drew Shaw LHP/1B--outstanding lefty pitcher and 1B with good bat. Throws mid to high 80s with very good off speed stuff and outstanding control. Alot of college interest but uncommitted.

Tim McCormick RF--outstanding speed and arm--outstanding bat with power. St. John's, Marshall, and other colleges interested--but uncommitted.

Mike Mitchell RHP/C/1B--Best pitcher in WCAC last year (bar none) and outstanding in all positions again this year. Div I prospect. Maryland and other interest but uncommitted.

Reed Bromley 3B/1B/RHP--Outstanding all around player with superb glove skills at 3B and great bat. Alot of college interest but uncommitted.

Mike McMenamin C--Core leader and outstanding catcher and hitter. Superb example of what any college coach would want as a leader in his program, esp in catcher position. One of best clutch hitters I have seen in HS baseball. If you need a run, he will find a way. Handles pitchers and team like a manager on the field. Definite contributor to any college team, Div I included.

Got it, Midlodad. Bill must have been quite good!

By the way--talking of prospects and PVI, add JUNIOR Catcher Chad Morgan to your 2009 list if you don't already have him there. He is only 2009 to start on PVI and he hits 3/4/5. Recently committed to play summer/fall ball with Canes organization. Should play big-time Div I ball and is also pro prospect (hits, catches, runs, throws all in "top prospect" category).

Taylor Herrell - Forest Park 3B/1B can play all infield positions. Hitting over .500 with 13-15 rbi in first 11 games. Power to all fields. Great mechanics in the field with D-1 arm. Some interest but not committed. D-1 talent.

Bobby Schwier - Forest Park P/IF. can play just about anywhere and well. Hitting over .400 with good power. Good speed, FB clocks mid 80's. Not committed. D-1 talent.

PVI

Greg Wiegand and Mike Mitchell pitched superbly (Peter Verdin closed) and PVI defeated DeMatha 6-2 on Thursday. Greg and Mike are still both uncommitted. Some 4-5 scouts there last night to watch, presumably, Wiegand, Shaw, and Mitchell. Shaw should pitch either Sat. or next week.

Couple of updates to the Stone Bridge post (one minor and one very significant):

- Sr C/MIF Brian Wheaton has committed to play at Texas Lutheran University, a strong DIII program. Congrats to Brian!!!!!

-There is no way that both Irwin and Stancik are BOTH 5' 9". At least two inches separate the players, with Stancik being the taller of the two. Plus Stancik shed a few pounds with Velocity winter workouts.

If you clocked Matt Irwin at 6.6, you got him on an off day.

Bobby Horton, a switch-hitting SS (08'--J.E.B. Stuart H.S.--Falls Church, VA), has decided to play next year for Coach Ross Natoli and the Catholic University Cardinals in Washington, DC. Bobby is extremely excited about this terrific opportunity.
