runner on first...batter hits ball to deep left (tricky wind)... ball bounces just out of reach of LF'er who then gets his glove on the ball, but inadvertently tips it over fence...Is it a ground rule double?...Is it a live ball (HR)? is it a ground rule double plus one base as a result of the fielder's 'push'?

Umpire scored it a GR double and the runner on first was sent back to third.

There are no "plus one" awards in baseball.

This play is a batted fair ball deflected unintentionally out of play, and the rule in all codes is that runners are awarded two bases from the time of pitch base. So the umpire was right.

The rule is different for thrown or pitched balls, but I'm not up to explaining it. Smile
