Pitcher (A) leaves game in the bottom of the 6th inning with (1) run lead. Pitcher (B) comes in the top of the 7th and gives up a run to tie the game. Team gets a run in the bottom part of the 7th to win.

Pitcher B was the pitcher of record when the winning run was scored therefore B gets the win. Those wins are sometimes called "Vultures." Smile

So, you can blow a save and be rewarded with a win?

Yes. That is part of the reason why the "blown save" stat was invented, so that there would be a record somewhere of the fact that the win was not necessarily a good thing.

BTW, can anyone lay out the rule definition of a "blown save"? Some situations are obvious, but I don't know exactly how you determine whether it's a blown save or not.

If you enter a game in a save situation or it is created (save opportunity) by you going three innings or more and you loose the lead..... blown save....
