Alright this happened in the Angels-Rangers game last night; Someone hit a double then advanced to third on a error during the play, So it was a 2B E6 to third, the runner then scores on a single. Is that an Earned or Unearned Run against the pitcher?

Good question.

If in the opinion of the SK the runner would have scored from 2nd on the single, then it's earned.

If that's not the case, then you have see what happens in the rest of the inning before it gets classified as earned or unearned.

Let's say 2 are out and the SK thought the runner in question would only have made it to 3rd on the single. If the following batter then K's to end the inning, that run would be unearned.

But if instead, that following batter also singles, then the run in question is earned.

In 9th inning C.J. Wilson was credited with the save and both runs were earned!
