Having trouble finding this sitaution in the rules. Maybe too basic but my brain is frozen after scoring 6 games this weekend and now I'm loading stats.

Situation - 2 out, 0 on. ball hit to RF. Bater tries to stretch single into double but is thrown out at 2B. Is this a single followed by an out or just an out.

Hit and an out. Credit batter with single, thrown out going to 2nd.

That's what I was thinking. I know this is dumb question but is this addressed in the MLB Rules of Scoring anywhere? I could not find it. More than likely it's common sense which seems to have abandoned me today. bothered
Thanks for the posts

I don't know if there is an actual rule in the book about it, I just know if you reach base safely, it is a hit. If a guy hits one in the gap, reaches 2nd and gets thrown out going to 3rd, it is scored as a double and out going to 3rd.
