Recently a player was awarded 1st base after hitting the catcher's glove during the swing. The player's parent went to the score keeper and indicated that it is scored as a "hit". Is this correct?

Thank you for your input.

Absolutely WRONG......I believe it is rule 6.08 or 7.07 (sorry, can't remember), but it goes as no official at bat for the hitter, and an Error on the catcher.

Thank you for your response. That is what I thought. I have no idea why he insistent it was? Maybe he was confused and meant to say that it doesn't count against the batter, I don't know...but again thanks.
