Coaches, how do you run your practices? I've heard stations are the best ways to run practices as it keeps everyone doing something. So what is a practice typically like for you?

You look forward to it like a birthday party when you're a kid. You think something wonderful is going to happen.

theres all sorts of "right" ways to run practice.
heres what we do on a typical early practice.

1. 10 minutes - aglilities/stretch

2. 15 minutes - pitchers throwing program/position player throwing

3. 15 minutes - situational baserunning - it could be any baserunning - alot of times we have a couple pitchers throw a holding runners bullpen while we work on reads and jumps at 1st and 2nd. other times will work at reading balls on the left side 2nd or 3rd. other times we work on reading flyballs

4. 20 minutes - individual defense/fundamentals

5. 20 minutes - groundballs/flyballs

6. 20 - 30 minutes - team defense

7. 20 minutes - hitting stations

8. 50 minutes - team offense - 5 groups - cage, baserunning - set base/situation, hitting on field - set count/situation, 2 defensive groups playing balls live

9. 5 minutes - pfp - different situation everyday

10. 10 minutes - conditioning - another baserunning session

finish with bullpens/field maintenance

thats a 3 hour practice - like i said this is for early practices. you dont want to go that long once the season starts. if we are inside we still try to follow that general schedule with some modification.
thats just our plan - theres other really good ones.
