I'm looking to get a new pair of spikes, and need something with more support. I'm in a 28 and over league and will be catching.

What are a good pair of cleats for catching?

Thanks.

Comfort..over looks......anyone who has ever worn baseball cleats will tell you to make sure they are comfortable...Even todays modern cleats worn for a double header makes your feet hurt.....Catching puts far more strain on the balls of your feet..

I do an MSBL league....many of the catchers wear molded cleats rather than steel...

I bought interchangeable cleats my senior year (my sister got them for $20 Nike Smile). I wore the molded once or twice and was sold. I never did put the metal cleats on!

Another thing I did was I had a couple pairs of turf shoes that I wore A LOT as well. Most practices I just wore the turf shoes rather than cleats. Even the molded got uncomfortable after awhile, but the turf shoes didn't.

Catching and metal cleats just don't go very well together.

I agree 100% about the molded cleats being alot more comfortable. Behind the plate, I advise all my catchers to consider using molded versus metal just for the comfort and the fact molded don't seem to get hung up around the plate as much. I have heard from some trainers they believe the molded can reduce or lessen some injuries during collisions at the plate at the cleat will slide more, helping to lessen ankle injuries. No technical/research data...just personal observation, experience and listening to some medical guys.

Personally, my cleat of choice is Reebok or Adidas. My son wears Mizuno.
