The season is getting closer and i'm always trying to improve our pre-game in and out.I've watched a bunch of good ones, but would like to hear what you guys do.

I usually go pretty basic..
2x to 2nd from each outfield position.
2x to third
2x Home-1 do or die and 1 cut.
around the horn to the right x2 and left x2
1 and cover
first x 1 or 2
Double play
Infield in to home with slow roller to first.

Have had Outfielders end it with do or dies from middle depth and sprint in when i've had some arms out there.
Basically would like to get the catcher more involved and have him make some throws to bases, but do not like walking in front of the mound and tossing to him like some do.

Ours is pretty short and to the point.

Outfield: (1st ball hit on ground, 2nd hit in the air)
1. Balls down the line throw to 2nd(2x) (Center gets a ball in right center gap.)
2. Throw to 3rd (2x) LF(left-center)
3. Home 1x

Infield:
1. Throw home
2. Throw to 1st.
3. Double play
4. 1 and cover
5. first again
6. Home on bouncer or slow roller, then to first on the run on slow roller (then run in off the field after throw -except 3rd)
7. Catcher finishes by fielding a bunt and throwing to third.

Coach 1 hitting from grass infront of SS area;
LF and CF 2X to 3rd From left-center
Coach 2 Throws to catcher from mound area Catcher throws to 2B
1Bs are throwing diggers to each other

Coach 1 steps in toward mound
RF 2X to 3B
Coach 2 goes behind catcher to roll bunts 1B covers his bag
When OF is done with 3B, 3B alternates with catcher fielding bunts/ slow rollers
Coach 1 is now hitting OF 2X to 2B
Coach 2 finishes with 1-2 thrown pop fouls to 3B ,1B ,and Catcher.
OF 2X to home end on Do or Die and go to CF for Flyball from Coach 2 who is on LF line or RF line.

INF throws 2x around star fashion.
Throws to 1B
turn 2
1B and cover
Play Deep and throw to 1B
End with INF in - Throw home and catcher returns a slow roller which is thrown to 1B.

Between innings we turn DPs every other inning.

I would like to do more between innings. Ideas on that?

Roy,

Here is the routine we used in college which was designed to show off our arms and agility

OF
LF to 2B x2 (from LF line)
CF & RF to 3B x 2
All OF to home x 2 (1 flyball, 1 do or die GB)

IF
Throw around (C->3B->2B->SS->1B->C) X 2
All IFs head over to deep SS except 1B
1 regular GB from 6 hole to 1B for all
1 slow roller from 6 hole to 1B
All IFs back to their position
Get 1
Get 1 with steal throw
Turn 2
Turn 2 with steal throw
Bunt coverage by 1B
Flyballs to C / IF (leave IF in positions in case your fungo hitter cannot place balls to C)
Infield in / slow roller

we dont even take pregame infield. to me its for show - dont get me wrong - theres nothing wrong with that - we just dont take it.
we come in and get focused groundball/flyball before bp.

like i said - theres nothing wrong with that at all. i like watching an impressive round of infield. 99% of the teams in the world take infield. our kids will be on a knee in front of the dugout watching every second of it. we just dont do it.
we play in alot of tournaments where you cant take infield so we like to get in the same routine pregame.

To get really specific..what kinds of fungos to you hit to the fielders? My recommendation is to mix them up: Outfield-hit a grounder right at them-then line one in the gap-then a short pop-up, then a sharp bouncer-then a drizler, etc. Same with infield-grounder to their left, hard grounder right at them, weak grounder to their right, etc.

Raider,

I think it is an opportunity to intimidate your opponent. If you are crisp in pregame, you may earn an extra inning. JMHO

Mr3000,

Routine groundballs and flyballs are a MUST. You want to look good and build your players confidence.

I once saw a coach hitting Extreme SHOTS at his IF during IF/OF and it just destroyed their confidence.

Personally I feel that pre-game is for 2 purposes.
1. It helps us to get a feel for the field. (Visability on the fly ball, playing surface..fast, smooth, choppy, etc.)
2. It mentally puts us in our game mode. Crisp hustle, field, and have fun (I demand max effort in pre-game and have taken my team off right in the middle of it if they do not hustle and give max effort.)
