I'm curious to see what other coaches opinions on line-up choices are in a League game vs. a showcase game. Should there be a difference? Is there a philosophy on what the #2 slot should do vs. the #3 hitter? Other than hit the ball - What do you look for in each hole?

There are not many 6-9 in the order HS hitters playing on top showcase teams. All of our guys are top of the order hitters. But to answer your question we just hit. Our 6-9 many times are just as good as our 1-5. You can mix them up and its not going to matter. Our approach is just get up there and have a quality ab and look to mash the baseball. When we go to WWBA event we then place them in the order where there certain skill set at the plate sets up our order the best to be successful.

Coach May

We do the same thing---the guys at the bottom of our lineup could well be the the 1-2 hitters ---how we use them may depend on who is a better base runner--we like the better base runner in the the #1 slot

TR & Coach May-
Assuming all the players are hovering around same average. Just wondering if you have a preference on who at what slot. For example: the player with the greater slugging % in the 4 slot or the player with the greatest on base % in the 2 slot or do you think it matters? Obviously the speed at the top.

In a showcase situation where all the players are stars on their high school teams, I'd mix it up regularly. You might even think about changing it up a bit depending on who you are facing (ex- LH pitcher, lefty normally hits 2nd but hits lower that day if he doesn't hit lefties well).
