Any tips on how to keep a team from "measuring" their opponent would be appreciated. Just gave away a tournament to a team that we should beat 99 out of 100 due to total slop on D. No focus at all but then come back the following game (15 minutes later) and run rule a superior opponent to the first. Good business for Anheiser Busch but getting tough on my wife ...

One thing I tried several years ago was to not let my team watch the other teams take IF / OF warm ups. Like you we were playing in a tournament and played a vastly inferior team and were beat. During their IF / OF my guys were watching and you could see them lose focus.

Next day we played a team which made it to the final four and we beat them by 4 runs after I banned my team from watching them take IF / OF. We still lost some games that year but it wasn't from a lack of focus.

Dont forget - EVERY team will have bad days sometimes
