It seems that his success this season is due to the fact that Beckett has realized that he need not strike out every batter---it is better to get one pitch outs--- his ball to strike ratio has become unreal in the playoffs this year

I think we can learn from this as coaches and work with our pitchers in a similar manner

It would deffinately help with Pitch Counts, and have Pitchers go deeper into games then normal.

I too can't believe how effecient he's been in October, I wonder if it'll carry over to the following season...

I never threw an illegal pitch. The trouble is, once in a while I toss one that ain't never been seen by this generation

He also cut his home runs given up for the season in half this year

Looks like he finally learned how to pitch in Fenway! I love watching him take the ball.

His work ethic has been the focus of conversation lately. He really has great focus but best of all is he realized that all he has to work with is the next pitch. Its just 1 pitch at a time. You make your best pitch and then set up the next one. There's always a game plan, but during execution, its one at a time.

it does seem like the pitching always picks it up a notch in October (or Rocktober as my buddies in Colorado refer to it now)... this could be attributed the "focus" on each and every pitch carrying the weight of the game... Beckett and several others sure seem to have the extra when they need it.
