Great question coach. Probably better addressed by some other HS Varsity coaches.

Just an idea: I have always wondered how much a HS pitching staff would improve velocity and arm durability wise if they did a structured Jaeger long toss/band work out for three months prior to season start.

Good Luck!

Can you direct me to where I'll find information on the structured workout you mention?
Thanks!

Jaeger sports can be found at:

www.jaegersports.com

They have winter and summer camps. If you can't get to one the "thrive on throwing" DVD and bands are a good start.

4 of our 6 varsity pitchers used the Jaeger bands during the entire preseason and regular season... It works, but so do a lot of other things. Just have to find out if its right for you. I don't require it, but I also don't discourage it... None of our pitchers missed any time due to injury through out the year.
