Coaches,
What approach do you take to spring break tournaments:

1. Play the best players only, try to win every game, that's the way to be ready for league.

2. Give every player significant playing time, let the wins happen as they may, that's the way to be ready for league.

3. Play it by ear, see how the games go and get players in if you can, but focus on winning, that's the way to get ready for league.

4. Other?

My thoughts are if we are going on a baseball trip for a tournament, we are trying to win every game. If the games allow for other players to get in, then that's good too, it makes for a better "team", IMO.

If it's varsity baseball than the best players play. If we're up big subs get in.

I tend to play it by ear. If we are in a tournament like pool play for a championship game then we tend to go for it. If our last game we are out of contention for the championship game then I play everyone.

We are playing an "exhibition" schedule then I work on matchups and different combonations and get some guys playing time that usually don't.

This year we are going away to the beach and get to play 4 games and practice everyday. We really need it. Because of weather we have only been on the field 4 times. Twice because of scrimmages and twice because of regular season games. So we have not had a practice on the field yet.

I am going to take this spring break and work some fundamentals. We are going to take a lot of groundballs and flyballs to get more practice in it.
