Son's left thumb is getting pretty beat up. What's out there to help protect and support the thumb?
Thanks

This is by far the easiest thing to do.

Evoshield Thumb Guard

Here is a picture of how a thumb guard Uncle Ethan linked fits on the thumb. It looks a bit bulky to fit in a mitt to me.

Anybody out their use one?

I would add, aside from shields, tape jobs, padded batting gloves etc., teaching this simple adjustment puts the thumb in a better position. Most inexperienced or young catcher's rotate their glove thumbside down on middle-in and inside pitches. This exposes the thumb to alot of ball strikes. If you will slightly rotate thumbside up, at the last moment in set-up - after the pitcher has seen his target, it will help the catcher frame and receive the ball in the glove in a way that minimizes these strikes.

bkekcs,
My son is a college catcher and he wears an Evoshield. It is not bulky at all and stays in his mitt when he takes his hand out of the glove.

Okay, I now have one with a broken thumb. Which of the evoshields do you use-the hourglass or oval, and will it fit in a 32.5" mitt?
