I was watching a major league game today and the catcher was giving the signals really fast. Is this something that colleges look at? Is it good or bad to give them fast?

Only if they have unusually bright and experienced pitchers Wink. Speed for speed's sake on signals, IMO, will cause more problems than it will impress coaches.

Your goal in signals is effective communication only.

Was he using the normal 1,2,3,4 fingers or was he just flashing all four at the same time?

Reason I ask is that some teams will give signs by the number of flashes of the hand. It's sometimes easier to see / count the flashes than to pick up one finger or two fingers.
