Deadening the ball with your body is less about equipment and more about form, technique and mechanics. That said, my son wore All-Star gear exclusively through high school and swore by it. He misses it now, but has to adjust to the gear his college team uses. Personally, I think the All-Star gear will treat you fine.

thanks.I do block properly, but there are some chest protectors that have more of a firm material so it doesnt always die right on the spot,it rolls a bit.

I have a nike chest protector right now,and its made of a softer material,so it deadens on the spot

In my opinion, All-Star makes the best stuff. The padding is of the softer material that you speak of (Nike) and the ball deadens well off of it.

I use All-Star and I love it. I would recommend it. It is the best and most comfortable stuff I've ever used. The only real firm stuff is up around the neck and the sternum plate. Everywhere else is real soft stuff and the ball just seems to hit and drop when I block with it.

Awesome!Thanks Catcher41.

I got it from Western athletic supply. They had it for roughly 90 a piece(leg and chest),so thats not terrible for quality gear

I placed my order for it TODAY!!That day has finally come!

It fits me like a glove and I'm 5" 8' 150 lbs. Did you get the CP28PRO? It's the one with the colored "U" bars. You'll be satisfied with it. I actually thought I'd be too small for it too but it fits perfect. Once you block with one time you'll be glad you bought it. Just out of curiosity, what colors did you get?

I got the CP28PRO for the chest,LG22WPRO for the leg guards.

I got Black, because my school colors are black/orange(hornets)

I was tempted to buy the Easton Stealth because I could get orange trim on the black gear, but I heard better things about this, and they costed the same..

I have exactly the same stuff, except I got a Black and Gold chest protector and black leg guards. My school's colors are black and orange too, but I wanted pirate colors. I hope that doesn't come back to bite me, lol.

they have black and gold?

I wondered if they had Orange/black All Star.

Our other catcher got some TPX black/orange gear,so I didnt really want that.

hahaha, we're probably better off taking this to the chat room. I got mine off www.wasupply.com, I heard the TPX stuff is real big bulky. Is that true? I don't think I'd like it.

Thats where I got mine at today. They made the best prices

The TPX gear is made of good material, but it does buldge up a bit when squating. You have to have a wide frame to have it.
