To add a bit to what TR advises, I'll also suggest to take it slow. Everyone wants to get back out there as soon as they can. You'll do far more harm by pushing it than taking a conservative approach. Follow your doctors and PTs advice completely.

I speak from experience with my own son. He injured his elbow in January, 2006 and had Tommy John surgery in September 2006. He'll just now be getting back on the diamond in about two weeks at a local jr. college. We realized that we could have pushed it a bit, buy why? Other than having some fun playing right then, what was he missing? Just the chance to properly rehab and truly be ready when the time finally came.

Remember, those who treat their baseball future like a marathon will be playing long after those who treated it like a sprint have moved on.

Best advice would be to follow the advice of the doctor. Through my experience with this injury, not allowing the time to heal is the biggest setback. There is no rush this time of year. Take it slow and you will be able to train and be in great shape for next season. You can get back, just take it slow.
