My son's catchers equipment bag just popped it's zipper. It is unreparable. It is about 4 seasons old, Wilson Clubhouse rolling gear bag. It is quite large and able to hold all his gear.
Looking around on-line (where I bought the wilson bag) and at some local stores I just could not find a rolling gear bag that was anywhere near big enough to easily hold all his gear.
On our way back from the best sporting goods store in my area, I noticed a hockey shop. I starting thinking to myself, hey, they have really big bags for hockety gear. We stopped in and they had a fantastic assortment of rolling bags of all sizes.... I actually ended up buying the smallest bag they had and it is considerably larger than the wilson. It's a nice rebock bag and my son likes it... Only problem is the NHL logo on the corners
So, if you are looking for a new bag, you might want to check out a hockey store

Having tried numerous bags, we really like a simple mesh extra-large laundry bag found in the laundry section of the superstore. It is ventilated so sweaty equipment dries out quickly. Dirt falls through the mesh. It holds everything, but is super lightweight. It has a drawstring closure which is easy and hardly ever breaks. All other equipment (glove & palmguard) goes in his regular bat-bag.

Just bought my son a new bag after reading this thread. Never thought about hockey bags . . . especially here in Texas.
The bag below holds his eight bats, (2) sets leg guards, (2) chest protectors, (2) catcher's head gear, a batting helmet, (2) catcher's mitts, a fielding glove, (2) pair of spikes, flip flops/other assorts stuff, and still room for alot more. Absolutely no pressure on the zippers. He stores his gloves and shoes in the two end compartments. Everything else in the large center compartment. He really appreciates the stability of the three wheels and the convenience of the retracable handle.
For Christmas, he also received a new No-E2 large catcher's bag with the wide wheels. I doubt he'll ever use it now that he has this hockey bag. Of course, he'll have to explain a "hockeymonkey" to his teammates [purchased from hockeymonkey.com; which also happens to be screened on one side of the bag] Cost: $69 plus $14 shipping. By comparison, the No-E2 bag is about $150.
Here are photos of the bag FULLY LOADED with the gear noted above. And, yes, this bag is BURNT ORANGE to match his high school colors.

And I thought I carried a lot of equipment Dad! 8 bats? 2 full sets of equipment? Good thing that's on wheels, otherwise that would get VERY old carrying it around.
Don't worry about the hockey logo. Mine had one too. Mine was "Nike Hockey" but it was $30 so more than worth it. My teammates called it my "human body bag" because at least a couple of them thought I could stick at least one body in there It was the bag people went digging through if they needed something-- that can be good or bad..

Yeah, it seems a little ridiculous to have all this gear. To be honest, though, he will not carry all eight bats to a typical game because five of them are wood bats he uses in wood bat tournaments. This number will dwindle as they break.
He just bought new catcher's gear so he'll have a second set for backup. And, since the bag is big enough, he can carry both sets.
I'm now a little embarrassed I mentioned the contents of his bag; seems a bit excessive . These hockey bags do hold a tremendous amount of whatever one might carry, though.

My hockey bag was very basic, but it got the job done for me. And I could always stuff something else in when needed.
Well if you got the money spend it, because it is worth the extra dollar, that’s what I did. To each his own. But that being said it is a great bag for those that want to pay that much. Like it says in the marketing info. It was designed by catchers for catchers. It has a place if you look for everything that a catcher wears and swings plus, mitt hooks and eyeglass and valuable bag enclosed in bag.
When you walk out on the field people know what position you are playing pulling that bag.

the bag has a special place made Shin Guard chest protector with air circulation so equipment will dry out if you forget to wipe off after a wet game.

Army Navy store...old USMC parachute bag. Won't hold a bat but great for everything else. $19.95 and has lasted 5 years of travel ball/HS abuse. Keep asking him in he needs another one but he won't change. Kinda backs up the tough guy image he has developed on the team.
No style points.... but what real catcher needs style points anyway. Other catchers see it and love it particularly when they see the USMC.
Check Out Schutt. I got one for my son and he loves it. I also got one for the team's equipment and it is great. I can fit 2 complete sets of catchers gear in it as well as an extra Hockey style mask and 2 catchers gloves. This is to only bag that I would recommend and it only cost around $70.00.

My son just got the Easton Foundation bag. It's like $80 I think. I can't comment on durability yet but the bag has a nice bat pocket and is huge...plenty of room for all the catcher's gear as well has his regular gloves, batting helmet, etc.
