Guess this year I have developed an affection and new appreciation for athletes on ice ... and have fallen in motherly-love with our cute US speed skating hero Apollo Ono Ohno !!!!!
What a wonderful performance in the 500 meter ... and the extreme power he turned on at the end of the team pursuit so the US finished with a medal. I loved it when he was on the platform as the National Anthem played, with his right hand over his heart, smiling (he has a gorgeous smile) and SINGING !!!!! with no apparent hesitation or concern.
And did you all notice that when he came off the "track" after his 500 meter win he called out "MOM !!" as he skated to her in the stands and hugged her. Perhaps that is what sold me on that cutie ... something that warms all of our 'moms of sons' hearts, I am sure.

FBM....Apollo Ohno dates Allison Baver (another short track skater) who is from our hometown. They started dating after the last olympics. Anyway....Allison's brother graduated high school with my son. For their senior prom, Allison came home for awhile and brought Apollo with her. They came over to the prom to see all the dates enter the dance (a big "to do" in our area). Needless to say, that cute Apollo STOLE THE SHOW! He really is a cutie pie!

I agree ... I just wanted to hug him. Perhaps that is because I miss my own son's hugs (?). He (Ahno) definitely is a son to be proud of.
