BBfam, as all have said, what an honor. Your player has nothing to lose and everything to gain - experience. Experience is one thing that stays constant as he goes along his baseball career. Try to convey to him to have fun, stay focused, but loose - let the defense work behind him - throw stikes - let 'em hit it - easy outs. Keep the ball down - anything hanging will go far - but again, good to get that first homerun at varsity level out of the way - guess what - the world does not come to an end. Tomorrow will be another day at the ballpark. Last weekend at my sons collegiate game, a team mate gave up some runs to lose the game. Next day, comes in to pinch hit - game winner. That's baseball - so go get 'em BBfam's son - no matter what happens he will have an experience that will help him grow as a player. And that never ends. Good Luck! Report, report....

this is why I wear big sunglasses all the time- I cry my way through games & over whelmed with emotions.
"Sure they get the hits, make the outs, score the runs, strike em out and get the glory!" "But who drove?"
