Actually I am a little sad and jealous of you other moms. My youngest ended his jr. high baseball season with their second loss in a tournament last Friday. We really thought we had the first game won, but the umpire wasn't very consistent at the plate(honestly the third strike to end the game and give us the win was called a ball ). The coach also said he made a bad decision in not sending my son on home to score after a well-hit ball. Oh well, spilt milk and life goes on. Now my son has to wait until summer and he moves up to play with the high school. The varsity coach has already told him he will be the starting varsity catcher beginning this summer. So moms enjoy watching your boys play. Good luck to your teams as playoffs begin. Our high school team begins their district play next Thursday. We will be there to cheer them on and I will be in the dugout taking pictures.

I know the feeling. Both of my boys seasons are over. My oldest one can't start summer practice until after East/West Seniors showcase, and my youngest is over on the football field lifting weights and working out with the football team for spring training. I was so shocked they wanted him to play football, cause up until about 6 months ago, he was barely 100 lbs soaking wet and has never played football!! :-)
The baseball coaches assured me it was mainly for conditioning for baseball season, and the easiest way to keep him in the weight room and running without violating AHSAA rules.
So anyway, I actually have to work 8-5 until summer games start. This has been a LONG day!!

Sorry to hear about BK's loss. I remember my oldest son's last game. The team had made it to regionals and we were fighting to stay in the playoffs. Nothing seemed to go right. Our starting pitcher was hurting and every hit ball was right to the defense. I have a picture of my oldest watching the last out of the game. Such a far away look. In Oklahoma the baseball season begins around the first of March and ends with state playoffs in May.

WOW...you handled the "last high school game" like a pro! With all of the pressure and expectations that came along with being a locally known "college-bound" highschool ballplayer, I remember I was a bit relieved to see the whole high school season come to a conclusion. Moving on the bigger and better things you know! BK has so much to look forward to....so do you!
As the mom of a college freshman, I am now thinking "Wow, high school seemed so long ago!" Now I am wondering how in the world a college baseball season can pass by so quickly...and my son is sitting the bench most of the time! lol. I can only imagine how fast it will fly when he is actually playing! I'm just trying to enjoy everything as it happens because we all know how quick it goes by.

It's been forever since I've posted, but I've checked in quite a bit. I've been filling in at the office for a coworker in addition to my regular schedule, baseball season, 2 daughters in club ball, etc, etc. My son also takes the mound for the last time in high school this weekend. We are out of the playoffs and it will be our last game. It's been a great season and select ball will be starting up soon. I'm going to miss all my buddies that I sit with at the games. I'm normally a rather reserved person, but a little demon gets in me at baseball games and forces me to yell and jump up and down (at the good and the bad!!!)

Infieldmom...yesterday was fun still (some) ..because I could tell BK's curve and change were working...and even his 2 seam which cuts in and down...was too pretty... BK told me..."well, if the umpire would keep his eyes open ....he'd see how my ball breaks."...we just laughed...
luvbb...yes, I do know what you mean...with our son the only baseball player headed on to college...seams he was always being watched more than others...some wanted him to do well..and then a few who did not...made me nervous for him.
amom? Oh where have you been? How's your Brandon? Did he sign? what's new with his pursuits? Glad to see you on here!

Tomorrow will be my son's last high school game. Hard to believe it is over. His team made the play offs and the first game is tomorrow. He will pitch it and then thats it. He will be having surgery on tuesday. He has been treated for kidney stones since dec., last week we found out he doesn't have kidney stones. The urologist order a test called an IVP, they past dye through his body to see the flow. By doing this they discovered a malformation in the tube that goes from his left kidney to his bladder. It has to be corrected through surgery. He asked the dr. if he could play in one more game and the Dr. agreed. If his team wins tomorrow they will have to go on without him. This is very hard on him, never thought his season would end this way. The dr. told us this surgery has an 85% success rate. I pray he is in that 85%. I know in my heart he will be fine. He is just upset about it all. He is a true team player and feels like he is letting his team down, even though he knows it is out of his controll. He is also very disappointed that he will not be able to go on his sr. trip.

Thank you Pam, just knowing I have this web site to come on helps. Here I am able to talk to people who understand how important the game of baseball is to my son. I know the next couple of weeks will be very emotional for me. He will have his surgery on the 4th, turn 18 on the 7th and graduate on the 14th. I may cry myself into dehydration. I better drink alot, wonder if wine would work lol.
