Is anyone out there? Sure is quiet here in the ladies' section. Don't know about everyone else, but the last few weeks here in my neck of the woods have been a blur, just now starting to feel in control of my life again.

Does anyone else get the urge to re-decorate their house this time of year? Seems like when I take down all the holiday decor I want to get different everyday decorations. Problem is--those things cost $$ and my money tree just isn't blooming enough. Maybe HGTV can inspire me to make my old junk look like new junk!

Oh finally! I thought I was the only one asking where have we all gone?

Yes the last few weeks have been a blurr... I need to take down the tree still. I hate to give it up. However baseball practice started Sunday night so i think I can make it til spring.

Yes I too start to want to redecorate after the holidays are over. I bought a new comforter set while out of town at the last tournament last year and packed it away. I started stripping the wallpaper down in my bedroom early december. I just need to get back to that. The kids went back to school today - lets get back to normal now.

WhooHooo!!! Baseball practice started Monday, first game should be the middle of February.
This is weird because I have the urge to redecorate also. Bought a couple of new things for the kitchen and one new picture for the living room wall. That is about all I can afford after Christmas.

Count me in on the redecoration thoughts as the Christmas decorations came down!

I was thinking this weekend about repainting our kitchen, dining room and living room. We did get new living room furniture and carpet last winter, and new wood floors in the dining room and kitchen this past summer, so this would be a fairly inexpensive next phase...

Wow, baseball is still two months away for us... and we've got at least three months before we can even hope to get outside on a regular basis. Seems like forever, but since this is #3's senior year, I really hate to wish the days away... it'll be over soon enough!

But I'm right with you all on the redecorating thing... gotta repaint the living room/dining room/kitchen/foyer. Don't you just love the open floor plans! One room flows right into the next, so there's just no stopping once you start!

We start school the first week of August and son graduates in the middle of May so we have to start baseball early. We usually have a colder baseball season than football. Most of football season is played in 90 degree weather. I want baseball season to start but then that will mean it will end. I guess I don't have to tell anyone how fast his high school years went by.

Well, I'm still having the re-decorate urge but the powers that be have stifled me more than before even. Just spent more on my son's car than its worth to have it fixed--did not make me happy. Long story but a very frustrating week for me, I would have been better off buying a different car.

Oldest son's baseball season starts in Feb, my high school son's games don't start until mid/end of March. We didn't have anyone doing football this fall and no basketball players in the house, so I haven't had my sports fix since last summer.

So, I will be living vicariously through the re-decorators and the sports stories I read here. Keep me posted and share pics if you can!

mythreesons,

"One room flows right into the next, so there's just no stopping once you start!"

That's our layout too, and with the vaulted ceilings above the entryway, it looks like a pretty intimidating job!

mom of 2 catchers,

We've been there too (the kids' car repairs costing as much as the car is worth). We bought an old SUV (Chevy Blazer) for son #2 in HS, and with the cost of repairs during the year we owned it, we could have made payments on a MUCH, MUCH, MUCH nicer vehicle!

Here are a few suggestions of what you might need to make-over those time worn decorations...or junk as you refer to them.

I've found that when faced with this same dilemma year-in and year-out these handy items always do the trick for me ...

...of course, you may have other things that come to mind as well.

Bragging - Son received the honor of Composite Academic All-State in Football. This award is comprised of students across all football divisions (1A to 5A). He will receive this award at the annual LHSAA conference during the Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies, which will be held on January 28, 2009 in Baton Rouge. His hard work is paying off, we are very proud of him.

louisiana09,

That is WAY cool! Athletic accomplishments are lots of fun, but when you add some obvious intelligence and top it off with good hard work in the classroom...I think that boy is going somewhere! Smile

applaude
