Well, this is it. Senior year for #3. Baseball season is just around the corner. I can't wait for it to start, but I don't want it to start! Because as soon as it starts, it'll be over all too quickly. It's the beginning of the end, the last of everything - sigh. It's gonna be tough!
College ball is down to two finalists, two good choices - so the pressure is off, the hard part is almost over. This will be the year to just love the game again, like he did when he was 8 and 9 years old.
I'm happy for him, but oh, so sad for me. When he left for his first day of kindergarten, he turned around just before climbing on the bus and said to me "poor old mommy. Don't worry, I'll still think about you!" I think I'll ask him if he still means it!

I hope you treasure every second of every game this year - it does go by so fast. There is a great essay in this forum - I think titled, "The Senior Year" were it talks about going to the games early for batting practice, finding your seat and smelling the grass and listening to the crack of the bats, etc. I copied the essay for all our senior parents a couple of years ago. It's a keeper!
Now not all your fellow senior parents will be happy this year - the "playing time" issue never goes away. Stay away from those negative parents and just enjoy however much your son gets to play.
Take as many mental pictures as you do real pictures. Have fun dissecting the games afterward with your son!
Congrats of having two good college choices - doesn't it just seem like yesterday when he did leave for kindergarten??
Good luck to all our senior parents!!

Ah, alas, it is our senior year too. It does seem so bittersweet, and it went so very fast. Son has already decided where he will go next year, and it is an odd feeling. Seemingly two loyalties, feels kinda like I'm straddling a doorway - rooting for the HS team and the future college team. One foot in each world.
Official practice started on Monday - I could tell my son was eager - he went and got his traditional buzz haircut and worked with his bands getting ready on Sunday. We kicked off this weekend with a bang. A huge all team party (about 130 or so people) and an intersquad double header, with lunch for all in the middle.
SO, we are underway - the beginning of the end of HS for us. The memories are many and wonderful. I hope (I KNOW) collegiate memories will be great too. I only hope those times don't fly by as fast as these past 4 years have.
SIGH.....

Mythreesons - That is a sweet memory! The years between kindergarten and HS graduation do seem to be gone in a flash when we reflect. May you and all our senior parents enjoy every moment and have some more sweet memories to share with us. Best of luck to all the senior boys!!

One of my first posts was on the Ladies Forum asking for advice on how to be a parent of a freshman on the varsity...now, four year later, I'm thankful for the advice and support the ladies (and some gentlemen) have given me over the high school years. I'm looking forward to heeding your advice and enjoying the year, relishing the memories, and documenting the season. I also am blessed, because collikar son gets to continue playing at the next level, so I can also enjoy this season knowing it's not over yet.
I love the advice curveball07 threw in, "...stay away from the negative parents." It's true; they'll beat you down with experience!
Bless you, all!

First official baseball game of senior year last night. Played on our refurbished, looking great, beautiful baseball field. I love baseball, I love my son.
