This scenario made me laugh.

Me and hubby are headed down to First Pitch dinner a few weeks ago. We have to leave early afternoon to deal with traffic. Hubby says he has work to do on the drive, so would I drive? Sure.
No worries.
We get into heavy traffic on a six lane freeway, soon to be eight lanes.

I know I have to get over to merge onto another freeway, but am unfamiliar.

He is in the passenger seat, laptop-a-go-go, cell phone a-go-go, GPS trying to communicate with me as to when to get over and exit.

Of course I cannot hear the GPS over the cell phone conversation, (which is loud because he is right next to me!) The GPS keeps alerting me to change lanes (but can't hear the directions), etc. He keeps blabbering away focused on his customer, (as it should be), but I am freaking out, I plan ahead and get way over to the slow lane, with all the merging, etc. I just figure the exit is comming up soon and I will be readySmile I have no idea what the GPS is saying.
Due to hubby insisting on yelling into his cell, heaven only knows what he other end of his call is doing, probably golfing on a Friday afternoon - weak signal???
Anyhoo, he ends the conversation, and says "How come you are in the slow lane, we don't have to exit for four miles!"
Geez, thought the GPS would tell me that, but as usual the human element finds a way to mess with the tech element.

If there was anyone in a car next to us observing what was going on, my goodness, they got a good laugh or got really mad Mad

Amazing, innit?

Wasn't that long ago that you two would have actually had to talk to each other on the drive Wink. And we've all gotten so used to and dependent on these gadgets.

Of course, be it GPS (who else knows where you are with that on) or MapQuest, it beats the heck out of stopping at the 7-11 for directions!

My hubby was not exactly a gadget hound a few years back, but he's gradually gotten up to date with his Blackberry, his own laptop on our home wireless network, etc. Now he will occasionally call me on his cell from a different part of the empty house (we are empty nesters), to ask me a question.
call

Makes sense, but at the same time it seems strange!
