Kelly Kulina, died in his sleep last night at his home in Laurel, Maryland. He was a kind family and baseball man, who shared his knowledge and passion for the game.

As a Senior Vice President of College Recruiting at
Baseball Factory, Kulina also was a former Associate Head Coach and recruiting coordinator with the University of Maryland for ten years.
Kulina is widely respected throughout the nation. From 1989 to 2000, Kulina coached 46 players who were selected in the MLB draft.

My friend is survived by his loving wife, Lee Ann, children, family and friends. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they cope with this tragic and sudden loss.

How terribly sad. Kelly met with us and our son in Jupiter Florida during the 16u JOs in 2008. He was an honorable and upstanding man who saw and wanted the best for our son. Blessings and Peace to his family.

Having known Coach Kulina for over 2 years during our affiliation with The Baseball Factory, we were shocked and extremely saddened when we got the email last night informing us of his death. In fact, our son emailed us from college (after baseball practice, of course), to tell us how upset he was about the news.

Coach K. was one of a kind, and was one of the most dedicated, hard-working, down-to-earth baseball guys we've ever met. This is a tremendous loss not only for the Kulina family, and The Baseball Factory family, but for the baseball community and for kids whose dreams include playing at the next level. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Kulina family and The Baseball Factory family.

RIP, Coach K., and thanks for everything -- we'll think of you every time our son steps on the college field, knowing how much you did to help him get there...
