Being a former Slicer and now father of a high school player in Tenn..I was wundering what the state of baseball is back home.I love the high school my son pitchs for now but would have loved to see him playing back home in front of all his grandparents.I remember LaPorte having the best program in all of Indiana during Coach Schreibers days ,Are they still as dominant? Any info on former Slicers going on to play Div.1 or being drafted? Are there any games during spring break at Laporte's field? Will be home and would like to see them play.

nragarm... LaPorte still has a terrific baseball program. They won there sectional last year and lost in the regional. They're favored to win the Duneland Conference and the sectional again. They're young and aggressive. Very good pitching. They also should be rated in the top 10 when the 4a polls are released.

LaPorte still seems to have the most consistent program in the state and one of the nicest fields as well. Scott Upp has taken over for Schreiber and the program has continued it's past success. Still a shame that they have class champoins now!
Chris Bootcheck LaPorte c/o '97 (transfer from Michigan City) is currently in the Angels 40 man roster and may stick with the big league club this season.

Glad to hear they're still at that level. Hope i get the chance to see them this year.My son wears a LaPorte Slicer Baseball t-shirt at practice sometimes and everyone wants to know who they are. They like the name SLICERS.I also saw where Doug Schreiber is now head coach at Purdue.I,ll have to try and catch their games at Vanderbilt.
