If you like the flexable handle, the Easton Stealth. If not, the TPX Dynasty.

Dont buy a Stealth without using one first. People either love em or hate em.

The quality of hit is determined by the hitter, not by the bat model. Find one that feels good & go with it.

Agree with Texan. I currently use a Demarini Voodoo. Best bet I've used so far. It's very balanced and a huge sweet spot. Tried a Stiff-flex Stealth and it was a little end heavy but has excellent pop as does the Dynasty. I previously owned an omaha which was the longest lasting bat I've used thus far. Do your research and see what best fits your needs. Supposively Louisville has a new bat coming out called the EXO? or something like that, probably pretty good since louisville is a reliable company. Good luck.

Do bats really go "dead" in any significant way after alot of use? My son has a z-core that he really likes but has had for a few years. No cracks or fatigue is present. The bat still sounds good on contact, but has it lost a significant amount of "pop"?

The thin aluminum bats will go "dead". After a "few years", it is time to replace your son's bat.

Bats DO go dead. Age is not the culprit but the metal fatigue caused by the ball contacting the bat and the subsequent flexing of the bat. I have heard it said the life of an aluminum bat is about 250 hits. A good high school power hitter will average about two bats per year. In college my son would go through 3-4 bats per season and this is using wood in practice. He practiced with wood during high school and college. If a player uses aluminum in practice he might want to consider a “game” bat and a “practice” bat.

PS: Let me add that by using wood during practice the players will subconsciously turn an aluminum bat to “trademark up” hitting the ball in one area creating a premature flat spot on the aluminum bat.

YES. My son's Connexion lost it's pop last year and they replaced it. Not sure if it's because it was out of round or had a hairline crack but they replaced. Unfortunately for you, your son's Z-Core is out of warranty. Have him keep it for practice and get a new one for games. How did he manage to use the same bat for "a few years"???

Interesting. My son uses wood for offseason work but haven't noticed him turn the aluminum trademark up yet.

I saw a smooth $329 in one baseball catalog. For that money, that sucker better be able to sing the pre-game national anthem and rake the field after. crazy

From my experiences, I like the Stealth. Ive had two so far, and they have been ok. I found that the Stealths tend to lose pop after a couple of months. The initial pop is great and the sweet spot is pretty good. I'm looking at a Demarini Vexxum for next year. Vexxum is supposed to have a huge sweet spot with good pop off the bat.

I think the Easton Stealth with the stiff handle is an excellent bat as well as the Louisville Dynasty or Omaha. Most college teams I see seem to use the Omaha (those sponsored by Louisville and although they can choose other models, the Omaha seems to be the overhwhelming choice).

In mid-Feb to March, Louisville is coming out with a bat called the ExoGrid. It has carbon fiber throughout the handle I believe for added stiffness/strength. It is supposed to be the future of design (or marketing Big Grin). I think it may actually swing itself Wink.

go to the websites of any suppliers like Baseball Warehouse, etc. most have a blurb about this bat which is being hyped as the greatest bat in the history of bats. I know it costs more than my first car.

Anyone can go on here and reccomend you a bat, but you must go to a store or use a teamate's stick and TRY IT . There isn't really a way around it, because you can't go off of what is good for someone. You have to go off of what is good for you. Everyone has a different swing and preference in what they want the bat to feel like. So go down and try it yourself.

I personally love the omahas.Best bat I have ever used, but I know all my teammates love the stealths.
My suggestion:Choose two bats, hit with both(borrow from friends, etc)and then choose which one makes you feel comfortable when buying

If you have to have a specific bat in your hands to be successful then you will be in trouble when you get to college.
