Strength, core training and great mechanics are the keys to batspeed. Tee work to me is just a reinforcement of your swing mechanics and a good workout for when you don't have a partner or Pitcher. If you have a bad swing and keep repeating it off of the tee, you will still have a bad swing no matter how many buckets of balls you hit. Kind of like golf except if you work hard enough and are smart enough to move things around to get a swing that works and can be repeated, you can be successful in golf.

I think you will find that at higher levels of baseball there is always a lot of tee work. If you want to change something about your swing, the tee is the place to do it. You eliminate all the variables inherent in hitting live pitching to work just on the elements of the swing itself. Once you are comfortable with the swing, move on to machine or live pitching to work on timing, and adjusting to pitch placement and breaking balls.

I'm not going to advertise on this site for anyone but you can find some Tees that have Rubber tops of rolled rubber and not radiator hose that are exceptional.
I like the Tanner Tees for the reason you mentioned above. I'd be interested in a lower cost version of similar quality and durability. Recommendations appreciated.

I agree. Tanner tees are the best out there IMO. It is all I use with my players.

I used to always do early work off of tees. This allowed me to get my feel for the day. Tees are great to get your swing mechanics down. If you can't hit a tee perfectly every time, you will have trouble hitting a fastball with movement.
