This is my 15 yo with me pitching live to him as my previous post showed only soft tossing. Any keys or pointers are welcome.

Again, same issues as the other two. He is just much stronger and has more batspeed, but that swing will not work against top pitching in HS, College or Pro ball.

Google one-legged hitting and read all you can about it. Because of the rules of this site, I can't direct you to another site, but they are there. You can PM me if you'd like and I'll put you on the right path. Your oldest is 15 and he has plenty of time to get it right, but don't wait. If he has a goal to play beyond HS, he needs to start now.

Lots of potential there. Seems to stay relatively balanced with strong hands.

However, he could definatly get in a much better launch position. His swing uses almost entirely hands.

This picture isnt the best example b/c his front foot hasnt landed yet but you will notice how much potential energy he has stored. His hands are back at shoulder height with his bat cocked at a 45 degree angle above his head.

Hes able to stay balanced while gettin all his weight on his back foot. This isn't easy to do and I wouldnt recomend teaching this to a 15 year old.

With your son, it looks like when he strides he doesnt gain any ground and his front toe just kind of rotates open. This pretty much eliminates the ability to use his hips because they are already open before he starts his swing. I think if he got more of a load with his shoulders/hips/and hands and was able to start his swing with his front side closed there is some monster power potential there.

I watched your hitting session. It appears as if you are pulling the ball a lot but you don't seem to extend your are in doing so. I don't know what you are struggling but as you move up and need to use wood bats, this approach will be a problem. You can have a lazy top-hand with aluminum but that wont work with wood.

I would find someone now to help you learn how to extend your arms at contact.

Think about this...You never see someone chop down a tree w/out extending their arms !!!

I probably didnt word it best.

However...

Both these pitches are breaking balls/off speed. And Francoeur is hardly the person I would want to model a swing after.

With the gifs, Both players use a high leg kick. They are generating way more potential energy with their entire bodies before their hips open, unlike the vid posted.

No and I already said I didnt word it best. I was trying to convey that things have to go back before they can go forward. To me it seems like the first thing this player does is rotate his hips open. There is no energy transfer there.
