Hey All,

I haven't posted in a while, but since I'm going to be playing again I hoped a couple of you would give me some drills of suggestions after watching a video of me hitting during a game.

My first swing was a line drive to righ center (shallow) and then I had a long at bat which ended in a pop up I think.

Thanks in Advance

There is a lot that I see on here that can be improved, IMO.

Let me start with what I like first. Keep in mind that it is tough to really break down a swing on you tube because you can't really go slo mo with it.

1. I like your initial setup purely from the point of view that you look "hitterish" (scout term Smile) in your stance before the pitch is thrown. You look to be loose and athletic up there in your setup.

Unfortunately, IMO, once the pitch is thrown, I don't see yourself getting into the positions you need to get into or using your body the way you should to maximize your potential. You look very rigid and robotic with your swing once it initiates.

Here are a few things I see:

1. Your bat is too flat. By this I mean you flatten it behind your head during your swing, sapping yourself of power and creating a lot more ground balls.

2. Your hips are not leading the hands at all, in fact, your hips are only rotating about halfway from what I can see. If you want to hit the ball with any consistent authority, I suggest you really focus on fully rotating your hips, and initiating that hip rotation while your hands load back.

3. Load your hands back. You need to create a "stretch" between your hips and hands. Hands load back, hips begin to open, then hands fire.

There is more that can be broken down, and all of this is obviously easier said than done, but if you are interested and want to try this stuff out, let me know. I could tell you about some drills you can do to work on this, but I didn't want to get too long winded here.

Here's my two cents

Your weight is set too far forward in your stance. You can correct this by standing with more weight on your back leg.

You have your feet wide so you seem to be a spinning hands hitter. This may work for a Rod Carew or Ichiro, but you aren't swinging the bat in a simialr fashion.

With the more upright or weight back stance, you will get more weight into the contact.
