Hello, all...

Here are two swing clips from the same bp session that I would like to offer up to you all for your analysis and input.

He has shown some good pop this past high school season. However, I think that there is more power potential here, but I am having difficulty bringing that out. Any suggestions?

Cheers...

John

The one thing I see is you fall off balance.

I think if he sat a little more he would get more drive out of his back leg, but his upper half is very good.

The two things that I would suggest to get a bit more pop would be

bringing that front foot further back in his starting stance

secondly, getting the bat a bit higher in the load.

Looks like a lot of great stuff in his swing.

Swing looks great. Couple of minor things I see:

1) Finish higher to create better lift.
2) Load the hands back a bit during the back leg push phase to create "active hands" and get an early start.
3) He hits the ball out in front a bit too much, which probably saps his power. Is he pull-conscious? Maybe have him work middle-out and let the ball get a bit deeper.

All that said, he has the intent to hit the ball hard and his lower half looks very good. I think the power will come with repetitions, working on waiting on the ball, and not thinking about getting extended at contact.
