Many will remember I had a video of my son hitting on here.He has since added the bat float and running start that chameleon preaches about.

That is the only change we have made, the rest is the same.

He is 9 now and was really excited about doing this today so we went ahead and worked on it,even though ball is over.

Here is a short video that I made today and this was the first time we worked on it other than a few minutes before a game.

Don't freak when you see no helmet,I am throwing wiffle balls from about 15 feet.

I am sure there is plenty wrong and I am interested in hearing your opinions.

Some stills taken off the video.

Sorry about the quality but I have limited resources for video and pics.

Have him pick the barrel up at load to create the 45 degree angle to the hitting area. It is too flat and he will have trouble adjusting to low pitches.

I was telling him to get the bat up but after holding it on his shoulder for so long,it is an adjustment he has to get used to.

Thanks.

Tipping the bat.....(Thanks Dmac)

Learn all you can what those are about....You will find that research to be very beneficial....

Your son is in good hands with you guiding him.... Smile

I have already been informed on tipping the bat in a pm.

I can definately see the benefit of it.

He would be in good hands with anyone. He can learn faster than I can teach it seems.

My daughter is the one I am having a hard time communicating with.(more ways than one) Roll Eyes

She is so literall about every move that everything gets very blocky.I can't seem to get her to let loose and just crush the darn ball.

I might have made a connection with her but time will tell. She is also a black belt and I started communicating hitting the ball like she breaks boards and it seemed to register.

Males and females are different.

Males tend to be top heavy while females tend to be bottom heavy.

The style in the video shows her wide stance making her an arm swinger (no power).

Have her bring her feet under her shoulders and generate power with her hip turn.

Give it a try, you may see what I mean.

Quincy,we have tried it,that is why she has gotten wide. The only video I have of her is older so the one you most likely saw was old.

We are experimenting with step now.

The reason we don't have video is because I just started videoing them this summer and she was hit by an inside pitch and had her arm broken this summer.Definately slowed her progress.Plus, she has been splitting time between hitting and slapping due to her tremendous speed.

I think when he gets the bat more upright, like you say, his balance problems may take care of itself. I think at the moment much of his power is going to the lefty batters' box.
