Just wondering if its worth the time? Received an invite to the Blue Grey Classic National Battle of the States II or III on August 27, 28, 29 or October 29, 30, 31. Obviously, I am too late for the first one, but is the one in October to my benefit? I am an '05 graduate. Also, how would have they come to invite me? Is it based on talent or just part of a mass mailing? It takes place at the Houston Astros Training Stadium. Any fatherly advice would be appreciated.

Wooden Bat, My 2007 received the same invitation to represent Illinois in this event. They indicated that my son was scouted at the PG Sunshine East Showcase and that is how we came to be invited. I have been told by fathers' that Blue-Grey Showcases held at William and Mary, Wake Forest and some other venues were worthwhile. As for this Battle of the States I haven't gotten any feedback.
My son is going to the PG Underclass National Showcase in December. Because of where we live and the brutal winters here, my son may indeed go to the Blue-Grey event because it will be the last time he can play outdoors until the Underclass National.Good luck.
